Who will vet the people working around ExxonMobil’s Guyana operations?
ExxonMobil Guyana Limited is seeking companies capable of providing background check services in Georgetown, opening another potential opportunity for local businesses within Guyana’s expanding oil and gas services industry.
The company, through a Request for Information (RFI) published on the official Local Content Register on September 23, said it plans to put in place an agreement for the provision of background check services in Georgetown.
Interested companies have until October 23, 2026 to respond.
The notice does not represent an award of a contract. Rather, an RFI is being used to gather information from prospective service providers as ExxonMobil assesses the market and potential suppliers.
ExxonMobil's notice provides supporting documents including the scope and instructions for the RFI, a questionnaire and a prospective business associates questionnaire.
Companies interested in the opportunity are encouraged to register on the Local Content Register. The Centre for Local Business Development is also directing businesses to the opportunity and has listed the closing date as October 23. The Centre says its procurement platform provides access to business opportunities and contracts across sectors, including oil and gas.
The search for a background-check provider is not entirely new to Guyana's petroleum industry.
In March 2026, DOF Subsea USA Inc., Guyana Branch, separately issued an RFI seeking information from companies capable of providing background check services. That notice described the proposed arrangement as an enabling, non-binding agreement.
Background-check services have also appeared for years among the types of services identified as potential opportunities connected to ExxonMobil's Guyana operations, alongside areas such as recruitment, safety and security services, training and other professional support services.
The latest RFI comes as ExxonMobil continues to place a range of goods and services on Guyana's procurement market.
Other ExxonMobil opportunities published through the Local Content Register in recent weeks include warehouse facilities, oil and gas training and facility management, offshore terminal tug new builds and strategic communication services.
