Operations on the Liza Unity Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel have returned to normal following a small fire days ago, ExxonMobil said on Tuesday.
In a brief update shared with reporters, the company said: “Operations have returned to normal, and the offloading, which was temporarily interrupted, has now been completed.”
A small fire was reported aboard the vessel on Sunday.
The Ministry of Natural Resources said in a statement on Monday that it was informed by ExxonMobil that heat detectors were activated in the laundry room of the vessel’s living quarters, indicating a small fire that was quickly extinguished. The appropriate emergency response procedures were immediately activated.
All personnel aboard the FPSO were said to be safe and accounted for.
Additionally, the ministry said the relevant regulatory authorities will conduct the necessary follow-up to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Liza Unity is the second FPSO built for Guyana's prolific Stabroek Block. It has the capacity to produce approximately 220,000 barrels of oil per day.
