Guyana’s fifth FPSO, the Errea Wittu, is now stationed off the country’s coast and is expected to begin oil production later this year, pushing national output beyond one million barrels per day for the first time.
The FPSO, built by MODEC for ExxonMobil’s Uaru development in the Stabroek Block, is expected to achieve first oil in September. The US$12.7 billion project is targeting more than 800 million barrels of recoverable oil.
Natural Resources Minister Vickram Bharrat said first oil is expected “in the fourth quarter of 2026,” marking another major increase in Guyana’s offshore production capacity.
The Errea Wittu will add approximately 250,000 barrels per day of production capacity to the Stabroek Block.
The Stabroek Block is currently producing about 900,000 barrels of oil per day from four operating FPSOs — Liza Destiny, Liza Unity, Prosperity and ONE GUYANA.
The Errea Wittu is the first of two additional FPSOs expected to come on stream in 2027, with the Jaguar FPSO for the Whiptail development also under construction.
The Uaru development is expected to further increase Guyana’s oil production as the country moves toward its projected output of more than 1.4 million barrels per day in 2027.
The Stabroek Block is operated by ExxonMobil Guyana Limited, which holds a 45 percent interest. Chevron holds 30 percent, while CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited holds the remaining 25 percent.
Bharrat said the government will continue to disclose petroleum revenues through the National Assembly and pursue greater opportunities for Guyanese workers and businesses to participate in the expanding oil industry.
