Gas-to-Energy Project advances as final bypass stack installation nears

Construction activity is intensifying at Guyana’s Gas-to-Energy Project site at Wales, with contractors reporting major progress across several components of the massive energy development.

LNDCH4 Guyana announced that three of the four Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) bypass stacks have already been successfully positioned, while installation of the fourth and final stack is expected to be completed this week.

The company described the milestone as part of ongoing advancement at the multi-billion-dollar project, where work continues simultaneously across multiple areas of the site.

According to the contractor, teams have also been engaged in round-the-clock operations, including night shift activities focused on fabrication and foundation works.

Current works include reinforcing steel fabrication, formwork installation, mass concrete placements and backfilling operations supporting the broader infrastructure buildout.

“A team that moves through challenges, working day and night, guided by purpose and driven by responsibility and pride — that is what makes the difference,” the company stated in an update.

The Gas-to-Energy Project is one of Guyana’s flagship infrastructure developments and is expected to significantly reduce electricity generation costs by utilizing natural gas from the country’s offshore oil operations.

The project includes a natural gas pipeline from the Stabroek Block offshore fields to Wales, West Bank Demerara, where a power plant and natural gas liquids facility are under construction.
