Colombian delegation interested in infrastructure, energy sector investments in Guyana

A Colombian delegation is in Guyana scoping out investment opportunities, particularly in the infrastructure and energy sectors. 

The delegation engaged private sector representatives from the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) on Monday as part of their visit. 

“Representatives of the Colombian delegation showcased expertise in renewable energy, electrical infrastructure, engineering, telecommunications, geotechnical services, transformer manufacturing, and specialised construction solutions, while expressing a strong interest in collaborating with Guyanese companies and contributing to the country's expanding infrastructure and energy sectors,” a release from the GCCI noted. 

The delegation included representatives of CIDET, a private non-profit organisation that comprises companies in the Colombian electricity sector, and Alpa Electric. 

GCCI President Kathy Smith reportedly told the delegation of Guyana's rapid economic transformation and the diverse opportunities available across sectors, including construction, manufacturing, mining, agriculture, forestry, tourism, and energy. She encouraged the delegation to view Guyana as a strategic investment destination and emphasised the value of partnering with capable Guyanese businesses to support sustainable growth,

Meanwhile, Senior Vice President and Chairman of the GCCI’s Trade and Investment Committee, Gavin Ramsoondar, reportedly highlighted GCCI's role in connecting international businesses with its extensive membership network, facilitating business matchmaking, joint ventures, and long-term commercial partnerships.
