A new chapter as Pegasus joins the Hyatt family

For generations of Guyanese, the Pegasus has been more than just a hotel. It has stood as a symbol of Georgetown's hospitality, hosting presidents, royalty, diplomats, business leaders, entertainers and countless milestone events that have shaped the country's history.

Over the years, the iconic property has evolved alongside Guyana's rapid transformation. The addition of the modern Pegasus Suites and Corporate Centre marked a significant expansion, reflecting the country's emergence as a premier destination for business and investment.

Now, the landmark has entered yet another defining chapter.

Effective Thursday, August 6, 2026, the 80-suite Pegasus Suites tower has officially joined the globally recognised Hyatt network as an affiliated hotel and will operate under the name Atlantic Suites Hotel – Hyatt Affiliated.

The announcement marks the first phase of an ambitious partnership that will further strengthen Guyana's growing hospitality sector.

According to Chief Executive Officer Robert Badal, the affiliated property will be marketed as an independent hotel while transitioning to the Hyatt Regency lifestyle brand. Guests will also gain access to the World of Hyatt loyalty programme when the property's adjoining 170-room tower is completed and becomes operational in 2028.

"This is an exciting transition to the Hyatt family and the opportunity it presents in serving business and leisure travellers with trusted hospitality of the highest level," Badal said.

The move comes as Guyana continues to experience unprecedented growth, driven by expanding tourism, international business and major investments. Global hotel brands have increasingly turned their attention to the country as demand for high-quality accommodation continues to rise.

While the original Pegasus Hotel remains one of Guyana's most recognisable landmarks, the Hyatt affiliation signals the property's continued evolution—blending decades of history with international standards as it positions itself for the next era of hospitality.

With another 170 rooms planned by 2028, the development is expected to further cement Georgetown's place as a regional destination for business and leisure travel, while adding another milestone to the long and storied legacy of the Pegasus name.
